President’s Message
I am greatly honoured to have been asked to be President of this great Bowling County for 2010. I would like to thank all
those who encouraged me to accept this position together with the Division One officers and members of my own club, HSBC,
who have supported me.
I am very conscious of my predecessors, and have known and admired many of them; I will do all in my power to uphold the
good name of Kent on and off the green, as they have done previously. In particular, I would like to thank the most recent
Presidents for their guidance and encouragement over the past two years; coming as I do from the far west of the county, I
have needed this time to become acquainted with our bowlers throughout the county, a most rewarding experience, not least
with our under-25 bowlers who will hopefully be the backbone of our teams in the future.
I have visited many of your clubs in the 15 years whilst I have been on the Council, and have been very impressed by the
vision and dedication which many of you show in looking after, and indeed improving, the facilities which you have inherited;
I look forward to renewing some of the friendships I have made in that time, and making more friends at clubs new to me, during
the season ahead. I thank those clubs whose invitations have made these visits possible, and particularly wish a happy season
of celebrations to those marking their 75th and, in the case of Empire and Sandwich Bowling Clubs, their 100th
anniversary this year.
The friendly matches we play are most enjoyable, and long may they continue; it is, however, the competitive matches which
are the backbone of the county and I wish you all every success in your competitions whether playing for yourselves, your
club, or your county. In addition, may 2010 be a happy and healthy year for you all; I look forward to meeting many of you,
when you play for the County, in the final stages of our County Championships, and, hopefully, supporting your further success
at Worthing.
